Airport Transfer
Plan your airport transfer
Compare airport transfer options using your arrival time, destination, passenger count, and luggage needs. Before booking, check the total fare, pickup instructions, included waiting time, and cancellation deadline.
Prices and extra charges: Confirm whether parking, tolls, additional stops, and waiting beyond the included allowance cost extra.
Meeting your driver: Follow the provider’s confirmed meeting-point instructions. Pickup may be in the arrivals hall, at a designated pickup area, or elsewhere specified in your booking.
Changes and cancellations: Check the provider’s terms for flight delays, missed pickups, booking changes, and refunds. Free cancellation applies only when explicitly included in your selected offer.
Choosing your transfer
Compare a private transfer, shared shuttle, and the airport’s public transport options against your arrival time and destination. Check whether the service takes you directly to your accommodation or to a central stop. For a shared shuttle, ask whether there are intermediate stops and how departures are scheduled.
Choose a vehicle using both passenger numbers and luggage. Tell the provider about large suitcases, pushchairs, sports equipment, or mobility aids before booking. Confirm any child-seat or accessible-vehicle requirements rather than assuming they are included.
Enter your journey details carefully
Use the exact airport, terminal if known, flight number, arrival date, and destination address. Check the local date for overnight flights: your arrival may fall on a different day from departure.
Follow the booking form’s instructions for selecting pickup time. Ask whether the provider bases airport collection on flight arrival or on a time you choose. Allow for immigration and baggage collection, and check when the included waiting period begins.
Prepare for pickup
Save the booking confirmation, meeting-point directions, and provider’s contact number somewhere you can access without internet. Check whether the driver will display a name sign, contact you by phone, or meet you at a designated pickup area.
If you cannot find your driver, contact the provider using the details on your confirmation before arranging another ride. Keep records of messages and calls if you later need to raise a missed-pickup query.
If your flight changes
Check whether flight monitoring is included and how delays affect the booking. A supplied flight number does not, by itself, guarantee that a driver will wait indefinitely.
Notify the provider promptly if your flight is cancelled, your terminal changes, or you miss a connection. Ask whether the booking can be amended and whether additional charges apply. Keep any revised pickup arrangements in writing.
Planning the return journey
Confirm the pickup address and time for your journey back to the airport. Account for travel time, possible traffic, and your airline’s check-in and baggage deadlines. Ask the provider to confirm the return booking separately if it is not clearly included in your original reservation.
Booking and support
Reservations through third-party links or widgets are handled by the provider identified at checkout. Review that provider’s current fare, waiting allowance, cancellation terms, and support arrangements before paying. Keep your confirmation and payment receipt for any changes or refund enquiries.
Jamaica arrival example: confirm the route first
Enter the airport shown on your ticket and your accommodation’s full address. A Kingston destination and a Montego Bay destination are different journeys; a quote for one cannot be assumed to cover the other. If you are travelling onward to another town, request that exact route and ask whether the price includes the full journey.
Send the property name, address and any entrance instructions to the provider. If a listing promises hotel pickup or drop-off, confirm that your property is within its service area. For a group arriving on different flights, explain the situation before booking: one driver may not be able to wait for both arrivals within the included allowance.
Compare the whole party’s cost
Illustrative prices only, not live quotes: a $60 private vehicle for three passengers works out to $20 each. A shared service priced at $18 per person totals $54 for the same group. The saving is $6 before any extra charges, so compare intermediate stops, luggage allowance and waiting time as well as price. For a solo traveller, the same $60 vehicle costs $60 per person.
Confirm whether each quoted price is per passenger or per vehicle and whether it covers one direction or a return. Add any separately charged child seats, tolls, parking or extra stops. Compare options with the same destination and luggage requirements.
Delay and missed-pickup checklist
Before travel, save the provider’s contact number and ask when waiting time begins, how long it lasts and what happens afterward. On arrival, follow the confirmation’s meeting instructions. If you cannot find the driver, contact the provider and keep a record of the response before arranging another journey. A refund depends on the booking terms; it is not automatic.
If you lose internet access, use the contact details saved offline. If your flight is cancelled or changed, send the revised flight information and obtain written confirmation of any new pickup arrangement. Do not assume the original booking transfers to another date.
Plan beyond the airport
Use the Jamaica budget travel guide to budget the rest of your stay. If you are considering driving, compare the complete car rental cost with separate transfers. Check the pickup included in tours and activities before booking duplicate transport.
